Project Kamakhya is a student led initiative by Saina Sarin which aims to advocate and spread awareness about menstrual hygiene and sustainable menstruation for underprivileged adolescent girls and women. They have conducted 15+ awareness sessions, mass sustainable pad drives impacting over 2000+ rural menstruators. Project Kamakhya has been recognised globally on various forums. It won the Global Sustainability Award for SDG 5 at the India International Centre in 2023 and represented India at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for the 1M1B Activate Impact Summit in 2023. They have collaborated with the Child Welfare Committee of Haryana under the Juvenile Justice Board of India to help aid the sustainable menstrual needs of girls and women and have also worked with the CSR wing of the leading automobile company of Honda. Other than that, they’ve been evidently spotted in the Hindustan Times, Samvada social magazine and TLIVE India.
