🐘 The wildlife tourism industry has a major problem 🦁 One that tricks well-meaning individuals into supporting exploitation, allows facilities to prioritise profits over welfare, and feeds on lack of transparency. That issue is called: ethics-washing. Ethics-washing: when companies or organisations deceive consumers into believing their actions are more ethical than they really are. Ethics-washing relies on passionate and often well-intentioned individuals not having the knowledge of animal behaviour or ethics to know better. And quite frankly, why would they? 🎓 We do not teach animal behaviour in schools. 🤔 Most people don’t actually have access to accurate information on what ethical animal treatment looks like. 🤳🏼 And the way animals are presented in the media certainly doesn’t help. So how do we fight it? 💡 We make wildlife education more accessible. 💡 We help connect people with genuine facilities. 💡 We change the narrative. And that is why project.wild exists. 🐻 Through our wild.guide, we make it easier for people to find truly ethical organizations and learn about ways to engage responsibly, whether through volunteering, eco-tourism, or supporting conservation efforts. 🐒 Our sponsored mini projects help bring accessible wildlife education to a wider audience, so people can learn about animals without all the scientific jargon. 🐶 We also run campaigns focused on animal welfare, bringing attention to issues that matter and educating the public on less spoken about topics. This is more than just a passion project - it’s a love letter to every animal we have seen suffer because of the actions of humans.
