I use project management skills and processes to solve business problems. Here's a short list:
Project rescue: I have a history of success of fixing problem projects as well as their underlying cause. I recommend action plans to make sure that the problems don’t come back.
Define and implement business processes: My approach is to focus on the “money” processes (the work that customers pay for). In leading process definition workshops, I apply lean principles with a ruthless attention to eliminate waste. I am comfortable with BPMN and CMMI, without making the process heavier than it needs to be.
Master scheduling: I have considerable experience implementing master planning and scheduling on a variety of tools and platforms. While I am a super-user in MS Project, I truly believe that many tools fit the bill. Failure to properly implement master planning has more to do with poor process and bad behaviour, which is why I focus on process definition and managing resistance to change.
Implementation of project management processes: If you have projects that are consistently late and over-budget, I can help by standardizing the practice of managing projects, with a focus on success.
Dashboards: I work with the executive team to choose the metrics that matter, implement them quickly so that executives spend less time looking for data and more time reading it and fixing things. I can help with that last part with some of the solutions listed here.
Knowledge sharing and management: I can help you spend less time looking for information and more time using it. I have implemented an Electronic Document Management systems (process and platform) and project information sites. I am a Sharepoint super-user, who prefers configuration over custom development.
Contract project management: I can help to get you through a current surge in business or a temporary loss in personnel by keeping things running. I can work full- or part-time, long or short-term.
