Prometheon Pharma has developed a transdermal platform technology called Topicon™, specifically formulated for the creation of drug patch products that allow for passive delivery across the skin of large molecule drugs such as recombinant human proteins and peptides that currently require daily administration by needle injections. We call our products TruePatch™ because they also don't use microneedles (euphemistically referred to as "protrusions" or "extensions") to puncture the skin surface. A TruePatch™ is applied to the skin just like other prescription patches or a medicated Band Aid. Prometheon is developing convenient, painless, affordable, and truly needle-free TruePatch™ products, such as a basal insulin TruePatch™ to treat diabetes and reverse prediabetes among increasing numbers of people, rich or poor, in every corner of the world. For the first time, we can talk about curing early type 2 diabetes and reversing the natural history of disease progression of prediabetes to established and irreversible type 2 diabetes. Other TruePatch™ products may include insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and human growth hormone (hGH) for the treatment of short stature in children and young adults as well as for hormone replacement in an increasing number of adults.
