Microfluidic Devices & Heterogeneous Systems Lab

Microfluidic Devices & Heterogeneous Systems Lab company information, Employees & Contact Information

MDHS lab is run by Prof. Prosenjit Sen and his team. His current research at IISc Micro – Nanofluidic laboratory focuses on design and development of various micro – nanofluidic devices and systems. Fluids with free surfaces at micro-nanoscale demonstrate unique properties due to dominance of interfacial tension over other forces at small scales. This motivates him to leverage these unique properties of fluids at micro-nanoscale for various applications. Several ongoing efforts are towards new lab-on-a-chip devices for point-of-application healthcare and bio-detection systems. For this we are investigating integration of various sensing methodologies to the electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) based droplet manipulation technique. We have developed techniques to measure mechanical properties of cells using microfluidic electrical impedance spectroscopy platform. For scaling of various systems (including microfluidic platforms) his research efforts include 3D heterogeneous integration. For all our research activities we strive to improve our understanding of various fundamental phenomena through experimental and computational investigations.
