The Protected Areas Foundation

The Protected Areas Foundation (The PAF) is a UK charity dedicated to developing the capacity and skills of coastal communities, mobilising sustainable finance, and enabling co-governance to effectively manage marine protected areas (MPAs). Communities are the best stewards of nature. While MPAs are a vital tool for supporting healthy, thriving seas and local livelihoods, whilst also tackling climate change and biodiversity loss, most lack the active management and equitable governance needed to be effective. Through collaboration, capacity-sharing and investment, we aim to help safeguard marine ecosystems and create long-term community jobs.
