We are on a path to commercialize proton computed tomography (pCT), a new medical imaging modality that will take the treatment of cancer and cardiac arrhythmia to the next level. pCT makes a 3D image of the human body using a proton beam rather than X-rays. This is important because it solves a critical problem in proton beam therapy (PBT). PBT has been growing exponentially worldwide for ~15 years as a preferred treatment for cancer. And now clinical trials are underway to utilize PBT as a first-line treatment for cardiac arrhythmias (VT and A-fib) after success with animals. Cancer patients and their doctors often face agonizing trade-offs in the fight against cancer ‒ but hope is here. PCT’s novel, patent-pending proprietary algorithm provides a direct measurement of proton stopping powers for 1 millimeter voxels within the 3D region of interest with an accuracy of 1% of the true value.
