As a non-profit and non-government organization located in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the aim is to create a self-sustainable community for the over 3,000 families residing in Ushpa-Ushpa. It is passionate about giving the people and especially the children a chance to further their horizons and brighten their future.
The project was founded in 2004 as a private initiative with the objective of fighting poverty and improving human development.
Since its establishment, Proyecto Horizonte has grown to include a day-care centre, a primary, secondary and adult school, health center, community training programs including women groups and psychological support, sport and art activities, home improvement programs and microenterprise initiatives including an artisans group.
It currently serves over 800 children and their families and has 70 employees, all of them from Bolivia, as well as a number of international volunteers.
