Washu

Proyecto Washu is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the protection of the Brown-headed spider monkey (Ateles fusciceps fusciceps) and its habitat, the Ecuadorian Chocó. To realize this, Proyecto Washu's main activities are understanding the behaviour, ecology and genetics in specific areas in order to develop reintroduction programs and create survival strategies (e.g. connect the small patches of forest, reforestation) and community strengthening and environmental education (e.g. creating local economic opportunities).
