PRYAS

PRYAS (प्रयास – meaning "Attempt" in Nepali) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on the last day of 2014 in Bharatpur by a group of passionate medical students with a shared dream: to create a healthier, more educated, and empowered Nepal. Guided by the motto “Ensuring Health, Enlightening Minds, Empowering Lives,” PRYAS has grown from dorm-room discussions to a dedicated youth-led movement committed to social transformation through accessible health and education. Our members—mostly medical and health science students and young professionals—believe that health and education are inseparable foundations of progress. A healthy person is capable of learning and working; an educated person can rise above poverty and uplift others. Recognizing this, PRYAS focuses its efforts on preventive healthcare, early intervention, awareness campaigns, and education-based outreach. Since its inception, PRYAS has organized numerous free health camps in remote and underserved regions of Nepal, raising awareness and promoting early treatment of preventable diseases. After the 2015 earthquake, PRYAS volunteers traveled to affected regions, offering medical aid, psychological support, and essential supplies. During the COVID-19 lockdown, our volunteers distributed food and necessities to low-income families in Janakpur and beyond, all while adhering to safety protocols. We envision a Nepal where geography and poverty are no longer barriers to good health and quality education. To continue our mission, we welcome your support.
