The Department of Psychology at Ain Shams University is the first and most prestigious psychology department in the Arab world, founded in 1952 by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Zeyour. Originally established as the "Department of Psychosocial Studies" within the Department of Sociology, it has grown into a regional leader in psychological education, research, and mental health services.
Ain Shams University is ranked among the top 3 universities in Egypt and holds a strong global standing, with its psychology program ranked 2nd nationally and 569th worldwide (EduRank 2024). The department has a rich history of preparing generations of skilled psychologists, researchers, and mental health practitioners who contribute to both local and international communities.
