T Anggrek Hitam was founded in 2008 by an international team with over 40 years of experience in international maritime. Equipped with 4 building berths, the shipyard has access to 300m deep-sea frontage that allows efficient shipbuilding operations, along with supplemental steel-fabrication activities. This includes an integrated general fabrication service, with equipment capacity to remodel and assemble over 25,000 tonnes of steel output annually.
In 2008, milestones achieved included the establishment of the organization itself, along with its first-contracted-date. The organization is founded independently and established fully-supported by a Singapore-based parent company. Driven by the ownership of Indonesian citizens, the organization is poised for growth and intentions to help build the domestic shipbuilding industry. The first vessel contract secured by PT Anggrek Hitam was a Deck Cargo Ship with capacity amounting at 12,000 Dead Weight Tonnes.
Along the way, the organization has also gained recognition and assurance through numerous Certifications and Licenses, one of which is ISO 9001:2008 – Quality Management System awarded and certified by RINA & CISQ/IQNET. Additionally, prefabrication services are also certified by Hamburg-based Germanisher Lloyd.
As of August 2014, the organization reached 2,000,000 man-hours without any lost time injury (LTI). And to date, the organization has contracted over USD 130mn worth of deliveries.
Currently in 2015, the organization is continuously aiming for workforce expansion along with a refurbishment of management functions. This is in light of upcoming planned deliveries of two Product Oil Tankers with capacity of 17,500 Dead Weight Tonnes – the largest delivery from Batam.
