Public Administration Quarterly (PAQ) is committed to high-quality scholarship that defines the discipline’s borders while bridging theory with practice. While PAQ recognizes the discipline’s traditional focus on public organizations and their core functions, the journal invites multidisciplinary research that links public management to broader economic, demographic, technological, and political influences, helping to drive public policy and its implementation. Nearly 60% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, making city and regional economic development, management, and policy particularly salient. PAQ encourages quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodology, as well as historical and theoretical contributions from all corners of the globe. Standalone refereed journal articles are PAQ’s principal focus. Additionally, the journal recognizes the import of special issues, book reviews, and practitioner-academic exchanges that enrich the knowledge base of public administration and policy and expand its audience beyond the academy.
