The Public Lighting Authority of Detroit (PLA) is an authority created by the State of Michigan that has replaced over 65,000 streetlights in the City of Detroit with brighter, reliable, energy-efficient lights. PLA’s mission is to actively maintain, improve, and modernize the street lighting system in Detroit. PLA is a completely separate legal entity from the City of Detroit.
