Pump Project Art Complex (2005–2019) Creating Space For Artists, Building Community In Austin Pump Project Art Complex was a thriving nonprofit arts organization that provided affordable studio spaces and exhibition opportunities for Austin’s creative community. For over a decade, Pump Project fostered a diverse and vibrant arts ecosystem, housing up to 45 visual artists, designers, and makers while hosting numerous gallery exhibitions, open studios, and community events. KEY HIGHLIGHTS: -Grew from an 18-studio space to a 45-artist complex with a dedicated gallery. -Secured over $300K in grants to support facility improvements and arts programming. -Showcased hundreds of emerging and established artists, fostering career growth. -Served as a cultural anchor in East Austin, engaging the community through exhibitions and events. -Adapted to major operational and regulatory challenges, demonstrating resilience and innovation in nonprofit arts management. Though Pump Project closed the doors of its original location in 2019, it transformed into ArtUs Co, reflecting the evolution of its mission and community.
