About PVAMUNAA Houston Chapter

The purpose of the Association is to form a union of Prairie View A&M University alumni and ex-students, and other interested citizens of similar aspirations for the perpetuation of Prairie View A&M University. This is accomplished by: (a) building and fostering understanding and support for the University; (b) providing services to alumni and loyal friends of the University; (c) encouraging communications among alumni and the University; (d) serving as the central organization for the various alumni chapters and classes; and (e) organizing and implementing programs necessary for securing grants, endowments and other financial assistance for the University. The Association’s field of membership is open to all alumni and ex-students having completed at least one semester or one full summer term (both sessions) and departed in good standing with the University. Coordinate memberships(associate members) are available for any spouse, offspring, parent, or friend of Prairie View alumni as outlined in the Constitution and By-Laws. There are two designations of memberships: annual member and life member. The Association brings its members together during two annual functions, its national convention (held in various regions) and the Homecoming activities on campus. There are currently 31 active chapters across the nation that host activities throughout the year. The Association actively solicits support of University programs and encourages alumni and friends to give freely on a perpetual basis (all donations to the Association and the University are tax-deductible). The Association has established two endowed scholarship programs with the University. The premier fund, “The Prairie View National Alumni Association Teacher Education Scholarship Fund,” was established to support students entering the teaching profession regardless of discipline and the other “The First Class Alumni Scholarship Fund,” was established in 2001.
