The main product of the plant is Polypropylene (PP), which is one the most widely used polymers in the world and it is the largest consumer of Propylene as well. Polypropylene, with its annual word consumption of approximately 90 million tons is considered as the world’s second largest baspar. With its filling, reinforcement and other such properties, Polypropylene is becoming one of the most favorite polymers in the industry.
Qeshm GtPP plant with a nominal capacity of 500 ktpa is to be established in Qeshm Free Area located in South of Iran. In the first step of the process, Natural Gas converts into Methanol which is turned into Propylene (licensed by Lurgi Air Liquide) and finally Propylene converts into Polypropylene (licensed by Mitsui Chemicals).
