About Queensland Vanadium Consortium

Mission: The Queensland Vanadium Consortium (QVC) brings together Queensland-based vanadium resource companies in various stages of exploration and development to accelerate the emerging Queensland vanadium industry from exploration, mining and processing stages through to manufacture and consumption of vanadium-bearing products, in industries such as steel, chemicals and energy storage. Background: Queensland is a mineral rich state that has the potential to supply Australia and its trade partners with a range of critical minerals for use in renewable energy and batteries. Increased demand for energy from renewable sources to power cities has created a need for large scale energy storage, which can be achieved using vanadium redox batteries. In March 2021 a group of emerging Queensland Vanadium operators (Multicom Resources, QEM Limited, Vecco Group and Alumtek Minerals) came together with other interested parties to establish a vanadium consortium, with the support of Queensland local, State and Federal Government bodies, the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC), the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) and Queensland Exploration Council (QEC). The Queensland Vanadium Consortium particularly acknowledges the early assistance and support of the Queensland Department of Resources, Treasury and Townsville City Council.
