About Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory (QMATH)

The VILLUM Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory (QMATH) aims to advance mathematical understanding of quantum physics with particular emphasis on the interplay between quantum matter and quantum information. We are motivated by the surprising informational aspects of quantum physics, its potential applications in quantum communication, and the long-term prospect of building a quantum computer. QMATH is funded by the VILLUM Foundation. Several new research projects have emerged from the fertile research environment fostered by the QMATH Centre. With the interdisciplinary Quantum for Life Centre, the Quantum for Bio project, Quantum Hub as well as three ERC grants, two VILLUM Young Investigator grants and two Marie Curie grants, the number of researchers is continuously increasing and the scope of the research area is expanding. QMATH is committed to educating the next generation of quantum experts and has been deeply involved in developing and contributing to the interdisciplinary MSc program in Quantum Information Science (QIS), which is offered jointly by UCPH and DTU.
