Federación Deportiva Peruana de Quidditch

Quidditch is an international sport, with contact, created on 2005, based on the world of Harry Potter. Today is played in more than 40 countries. A quidditch team consists of up to 21 athletes, in seven different positions. Each player must keep a broom between their legs at all times. Quidditch is an inclusive sport that does not accept any type of discrimination. All quidditch athletes have the right to define how they identify themselves, and it is this declared gender the one recognized on the field. Many players have found, for the first time, a collective sport that recognizes them for who they are. Quidditch's “maximum four” rule states that there cannot be more than four players of the same gender on the field at the same time, ensuring that the sport is inclusive of all genders and that gender diversity is always maintained in the field. The Federación Deportiva Peruana de Quidditch (FDPQ) was born in 2016 as a group created with the purpose of developing quidditch in peruvian territory, with the sole purpose of implementing a new discipline that mixes passion, dedication, determination and a high level of performance. We are the only entity certified and endorsed by the International Quidditch Association (IQA, international regulator of Quidditch) as the National Governing Body of quidditch in Peru. The FDPQ has 4 official competitions a year, a regional final, open micro-championships: thematic, regional, etc. It also currently has 7 certified regions: Lima, Tacna, Junin, Arequipa, Trujillo, Lambayeque and Cusco. Also we have 15 nationally certified teams. We haves a Commission of Quidditch Referees (COMAQ in spanish), who are in charge of preparing, directing and training the referees and therefore the refereeing at the national level.
