Quantum Energy and Engineering

Quantum is a clean-tech startup that targets the 4 billion people of our global population that lack access to basic human needs. The company develops products for unmet clean energy needs, with an environmentally and economically sustainable approach. Quantum’s vision is to provide clean energy for all, in order to create equal development opportunities amongst the global population. We contribute to this goal by developing culturally acceptable, high-quality affordable technology, which improves the lives of people living in low income and developing regions throughout the world. Quantum’s current focus is to overcome the darkness faced by over 1 billion people. Lack of access to reliable energy is stifling household productivity and hindering development. Candles and kerosene lamps are used as alternatives but are unsafe and costly sources of low-quality light. Such primitive light substitutes contribute to household air pollution and emissions of around 180 millon tons globalls, which claims the lives of nearly 1.5 million people every year due to respiratory diseases. Quantum has the solution and is soon to launch its first product called GETI. It is a smart kettle that uses waste heat from a cookstove to generate electricity to rural households. The generated electricity would be enough to light a room, for less money than candles and kerosene lamps, without harmful emissions, in a clean, sustainable and culturally feasible manner.
