About QUB PPRC
Now part of AMIC (Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre) the Polymer Processing Research Centre's primary aim is to strengthen industrial competitiveness and provide a business-friendly interface between companies and QUB Research aligned to industrial needs. Staff in the Centre work directly with industry, supporting them in leveraging funding and partnering with them in developing new products. Based on QUB’s internationally-renowned research in polymer materials and processing since the early 1970s and provision of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in polymers for over 40 years, PPRC also provides bespoke training courses to help business upskill and reskill their employees. Processing facilities include industrial scale equipment to undertake blown film, cast film, sheet and tube extrusion, rotational and injection moulding and compounding, are complemented by characterisation facilities to undertake studies on morphology, micro-structure, process control, rheology and physical properties.
