The collaborative economy / sharing economy is a movement built out of the need for digital innovation and collaboration in real world every day processes. From catching a taxi to staying in someone's house while on holidays, sharing through digital will be a major disruption to the way people connect and do business online. Dubbed the “next phase of social business” by Jeremiah Owyang, consumers either get what they need from each other, or they pay for access to goods and services rather than own them. Increasingly, consumers themselves are the makers and influencers of goods and services in the marketplace. Quotefish provides an instructive and easy platform for connecting individuals and local businesses and tradesmen, inspiring trust and real world relationships. We launched in September last year, and were instantly awarded the Wicklow Business Chamber 'Most Innovative Business' Runner Up Award, in October we were a semi-finalist for the Real-Ex Web Awards 'Best New Web Application / Service'. In November we were shortlisted for Eircom Spiders 'Digital Startup' Award, and December nominated for the Samsung DMAs 'Best Start-up' Award, winning it in February 2014.
