About Region VII Disaster Health Response Ecosystem

In 2018, Nebraska Medicine received a competitive $3 million grant through the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) for the creation of a Regional Disaster Health Response system (RDHRS). The Nebraska Medicine RDHRS philosophy utilized an ecosystem model to ensure inclusivity, interconnectedness, redundancy and self-sustainment, which became the Region VII Disaster Health Response Ecosystem (R7DHRE). The R7DHRE program continues to grow and expand thanks to continued funding. Capability-based work groups were established to create a platform in which the overarching goals of the program were tracked and maintained. The working groups are inclusive of subject matter experts in the fields of radiation, chemical, telecommunications, planning and public health law.
