Rahela Trust provides university scholarships and mentoring to exceptional female students who would not otherwise be able to access higher education.
16 Rahela Trust sponsored scholars have already graduated and 19 others are currently studying– a mixture of medicine, law, economics and computer science at universities in Kabul, Helmand and Kandahar.
Rahela Trust aims to create safe spaces for Afghan women to pursue their education. Selection criteria for the scholarships specifically identify academically talented girls who have struggled with violence or financial difficulties.
Our scholar mentoring programme runs throughout their studies, focusing on pastoral care to build their skills and confidence, enabling them to successfully manage challenges arising from both their academic and personal life. We encourage all our scholars to play a full role in society on the political, social, and economic development of Afghanistan, as future role models and leaders for other young women.
