RailM8 is Australia’s first Railpedia.
RailM8 aims to:
• Make rail more accessible;
• Demystify jargon used by different disciplines, asset owners and operators;
• Provide a future platform for engagement for all facets of the rail industry;
Rail is one of the oldest industries in the world, which has developed a unique language specific to geographic locations and rail operators. With the surging investment in rail, there is a large demand on the current rail workforce. This is (and will continue to) result in an increase in rail related recruitment from external industries as well as a rise in relocating existing rail workforce to address resource requirements.
One of the challenges the industry faces is on boarding and relocating people, without this unique language creating unnecessary barriers, inefficiencies or frustrations.
To assist with this challenge our team has developed a smart device app and website, which provides an easy-to-use rail-specific search function. Yes, a Railpedia!
The RailM8 team has developed a prototype app and a basic database as a proof of concept.
