RAMPAO

🌊 The West African Marine Protected Areas Network (RAMPAO) aims to ensure, at the scale of the West African marine ecoregion which includes Cabo Verde, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Benin, Mauritania, Senegal, la Côte d'Ivoire and Sierra Leone the preservation of a coherent network of critical habitats essential for maintaining the dynamic ecological processes that support the regeneration of natural resources and the conservation of biodiversity for the benefit of society. More specifically, RAMPAO works to: ✅ Connect a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) that represent key ecosystems and critical habitats necessary for the renewal of fishery resources, habitat restoration, and biodiversity conservation; ✅ Promote knowledge exchange and mutual learning among its members; ✅ Create synergies between MPAs on common areas of interest; ✅ Ensure that MPAs in the region are functional and operational; ✅ Strengthen collective capacities in advocacy, interest representation, and regional presence in international conservation forums.
