The Company started its operations in 1989 as a trading Company specialized in the field of sportswear and sports accessories. The first brand was Adidas. The origin of the name goes back to RA who was the ancient Egyptian Sun God. The meaning of the name is uncertain, but it is thought that if not a word for 'sun' it may be a variant of or linked to words meaning 'creative power' and 'creator'.
