RationAI research group, founded by researchers from the Faculty of Informatics and Institute of Computer Science at Masaryk University, concentrates on developing cutting-edge AI methods in biomedicine. We aim to create an appropriate environment that will maximally support cooperation between domain experts and computer science specialists, focusing on explaining the behavior of these AI methods (explainable AI, XAI).
In collaboration with Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, we have developed a set of tools for digital pathology based on explainable AI techniques. We offer a light-weight web-based whole-slide image viewer xOpat, that efficiently examines digitized microscopic tissue images. The viewer is deeply integrated with the AI toolbox RatioPath, assisting pathologists in diagnosing prostate cancer, quantifying Ki67 protein proliferation, and more. The system also backs its diagnosis with human-understandable hints explaining the decisions of AI models. The toolbox is highly customizable, and we offer the services of a team of AI experts in developing custom AI-based assistance tools for pathologists.
