RavenSpace is the foremost digital innovator of Indigenous, peer-reviewed publications. A start-up launched from the University of British Columbia Press, RavenSpace is transformative, recognizing the need for publishing that reflects new models of collaboration between Indigenous creators, Indigenous communities and scholarly co-creators. How we work is deeply ethical. RavenSpace pioneered digital interfaces that honour Indigenous creators' and communities' cultural protocols. How we work is as important as what we do. We are committed to Open Access protocols and work with partners such as the Mellon Foundation, to increase accessibility. RavenSpace's digital publishing platform is integrated with Hypothes.is. This ensures our publications also serve as collaboration spaces for scholars, teachers and researchers who wish to annotate and tailor instances of RavenSpace publications specifically for their classes or teams. RavenSpace is committed to advancing the goals of the UN Decade of Indigenous Voices. Our digital publications allow authors to share their recordings and video of songs, storytelling, oral narratives in their Indigenous tongue, and dance, along with interactive location mapping. Critically-endangered languages are losing their native speakers.
