Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (QLD)

The Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages registers births, deaths, marriages, changes of names and adoptions in Queensland. We also: - Co-ordinate the Australian Death Check on behalf of all the state and territory registries. The Australian Death Check allows businesses to cleanse customer data against over 3.5 million official death records. For more information, visit australiandeathcheck.gov.au - Co-ordinate and disseminate the National Fact of Death file (FoD). The FoD service is a compilation of death records from all state and territory Registries and is used by agencies to flag deceased individuals. It contains full name, date of birth and residential address details. The FoD is only available to government agencies. - Disseminate the Cause of Death Unit Record File (CODURF), which is compiled and coded (ICD-10) by the Australian Bureau of Statistics from death data from all state and territory Registries. The CODURF file is only available to organisations and institutions for educational, research and statistical purposes. - Validate life event certificates for organisations acting in the public interest. - Offer marriage celebrants, funeral directors, courts and hospitals dedicated client support. - Continually improve our digital services, having developed our own online birth, marriage, death registration and electronic medical cause of death systems. - Engage with rural and remote communities about the importance of birth registration and certification. - Host almost 3 million historical records to search for free in our online family history service.
