Ranbir and Chitra Gupta School of Infrastructure Design and Management (RCGSIDM), IIT Kharagpur

The Ranbir and Chitra Gupta School of Infrastructure Design and Management (RCGSIDM) at IIT Kharagpur is a unique School in the nation that provides post-graduate degree in the specialized field of Infrastructure Design and Management. The School was established in 2008 and has made great strides in the field of infrastructure research and education. The School is currently linked with two mega projects funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, namely the “Future of Cities” and “SANDHI”. The School houses a rich blend of students and teachers from various disciplines, including Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical), Management and Law. Through its coursework the school imparts to its students an inter-disciplinary experience in infrastructure project planning, execution, finance, management and operations. In addition to lecture session, real-time learning is developed through involvement of students in various sponsored projects under IIT Research and industrial training program. Distinguished personnel from corporate sector and foreign universities like MIT, and University of Waterloo, USA enhance the learning experience of the students through workshops, guest lectures and, interaction sessions. Furthermore, RCGSIDM has successfully organised two international symposiums and is currently in process for the third symposium on “Water Urbanism and Infrastructure Development in Eco-sensitive Zones” 6-7 January 2017.
