Inspired by the strong belief that much of what is discarded still has value, we are passionate about reducing waste and finding creative possibility in what others see as “trash.”
Since 2014, our volunteers have saved over 700,000 pounds of reusable materials and returned them to the community, helping to extend their life through creative reuse.
In partnership with our parent organization, Cracked Pots, our goal is to reduce the amount of material that ends up at the landfill and to educate the public about ways to reduce waste. We partner with local community organizations to further these goals.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Cracked Pots has worked in our Portland-area community since 1999 to inspire creative reuse of items too often sent to the landfill. Our programs send the powerful message that much of what is discarded still has value.
Our volunteers visit the Transfer Station to rescue items already thrown away, prevent them from ending up in the landfill, and then clean and repair them to be returned to the community through our store, ReClaim It.
Creative reuse—reclaiming and reimagining—is at the heart of all we do.
We envision a future where our community prioritizes waste reduction, where our neighbors are empowered with the knowledge and resources to repair and reuse rather than throw away, and where local artists choose creative reuse to demonstrate the possibility of a beautiful, sustainable planet.
