REDO works to promote zero waste throughout Utah. Program Areas: - We help students and teachers improve recycling systems at local high schools. - We help schools and businesses write recycling policies. - We raise awareness about waste issues through social media and blogging. Education Campaigns: - No Bags in the Bin - Plastic bags are the number one problem for all recyclers. They get tangled in the machines at sorting facilities, and most curbside recyclers do not process plastic bags. - Jordan River Trash Boom - Every 3 months Salt Lake County hauls 7 tons of trash from the Jordan River. Most of the debris is made up of plastic water and soda bottles - things that could have been recycled! We're raising awareness about this issue, and engaging the community so that less waste ends up in rivers and waterways.
