REEL Mates

REEL Mates is an impactful mentoring program that enhances the lives of disadvantaged youth through engagement in the education and activity of fishing. Delivered in partnership with GADI Services and EDN, we seek to break the cycle of disadvantage through a preventative rather than reactive approach. Working with young people in Western Sydney who lack positive male role models or who have been exposed to domestic violence participants are matched with a fishing mentor who will; Provide mentoring to build life skills, Educate and upskill them in fishing including sustainable fishing practices, Support them to develop a positive outdoor hobby that contributes to increased wellbeing, And be a connector to external, specialised support if needed.
