Reflectory is a consultancy working with partners who seek to generate social change in the fields of conflict transformation, increasing social cohesion, encouraging active citizenship or promoting participatory democracy. Our mission is to help our partners become more impactful in their work by integrating reflective practices into their processes, thereby increasing the relevance and resonance of their work and augmenting their impact in society at large. In today’s complex, fast-paced and increasingly polarized world many organizations and individuals are becoming more mindful of the way they carry out their activities and what (unintended) consequences their actions have in the short and long run. Reflectory was founded out of the belief that reflection remains one of the most overlooked and underutilized resources to improve the way we design, implement, evaluate, and communicate about social change-oriented research projects and practical interventions. What is reflective research and reflective practice? For us, reflexivity refers to an intentional and mindful way of working. It acknowledges and creates awareness about systemic contexts and interdependencies, the positionality and wellbeing of all involved individuals, and the impact within and beyond project outcomes.
