The Rural Enterprise Financing Project (REFP) is a six-year (2019-2024) Rural Finance Project with total budget of USD 72.5 million, financed by IFAD (USD 62.1M), Government of Mozambique ($4.3M), Private Sector (USD 5,00M) and Beneficiaries (USD 1.2M).
The project goal is to “contribute to rural household livelihood improvement”, and specific Project Development Objective is to “increase the availability of access to, and use of adapted (appropriate, affordable, and innovative) inclusive sustainable financial services, and technical support services in rural areas”. To ensure the implementation, two technical components were designed:
Component 1: Improved access to adapted financial services for rural entrepreneurs; and Component 2: Capacity building and support for institutions and rural entrepreneurs).
The technical components are supported by Component 3: Project Management, which will provide project management services as described. Implemented nation wide, the Project aims to achieve 259.000 HH members engaged in agriculture, fisheries and non–agriculture Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), on which 50% women and 20% youth.
