Refractiv is the work of Luca Pietropaolo. A cross-disciplinary studio at the intersection of technology and visual art, based in Offenburg and Tokyo. Refractiv blends cultural perspectives to craft immersive environments that transform how people experience space through sensors, code, projection, and light. Every project is handled from concept to execution with meticulous attention to context and detail. What we believe Immersion transcends spectacle. It is about presence, narrative, and emotion, shaped through visual systems, responsive interaction, and architectural space. Some call it media architecture. Others, experiential design. We see it as a new kind of storytelling. What we do Immersive Installations: Bespoke systems combining motion graphics, sensors, lighting, and real-time content. Architectural Lighting: Permanent and temporary designs for clubs, events, retail, hospitality, and cultural spaces. Media Surfaces / Projection Mapping: Large-scale visuals integrated into built environments. Custom Tech Systems: Software and hardware for interactivity and generative visuals. Approach We collaborate with cultural institutions, architects, brands, and event producers. Each project, whether a kinetic light sculpture in a nightclub or an interactive museum installation, is contextually driven and purposefully crafted. Our work is never off the shelf. Everything is invented and built to resonate. Global Reach Operating between Europe and Asia, Refractiv has delivered projects across continents, from Amsterdam's underground clubs to Beijing launch events and immersive hospitality in Brussels.
