About Refugia Research Coalition
The Refugia Research Coalition (RRC) is dedicated to accelerating the science and management of climate change refugia. Supported by the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and a variety of partners around the world, the RRC is a network designed to connect researchers and practitioners looking to understand how climate change refugia conservation can help protect what we care about in the face of climate change. Refugia are areas that remain relatively buffered from contemporary climate change over time and enable the persistence of valued physical, ecological, and socio-cultural resources. Characterized by their relatively stable local climatic conditions despite changes at regional and global scales, researchers are investigating the processes that lead to their creation and define their capacity, and practitioners are working to protect them. The RRC brings these folks, and their results, together across the globe.
