ReHORECA Sustainability System

ReHORECA Sustainability System is a nonprofit organization formed under the legal mandate for Alternative Waste Management Systems. Specifically, the law dictates that such systems be formed by large polluters of specific waste streams who must take responsibility for their own by-products and manage them. Hotel, Restaurant and Catering businesses (HORECA) are large producers of organic waste, and specifically food waste, with garden waste also forming a substantial portion. Therefore, it became imperative to create this System in order to meet our obligations. The founding members are 9 hotel groups, based in Crete, with 25 hotels on the island and more at other destinations.
