Welcome to The Office of Research. Howard University holds a long and distinguished history in the production of groundbreaking research, innovation, and intellectual property. Critical to this history has been, and continues to be, advancing interdisciplinary research support for our faculty, students, and research staff across the greater Howard University community. The central mission of The Office of Research is to work across Howard’s 14 Colleges / Schools to develop, promote, and implement research opportunities that improves the quality of life in the U.S., as well as individuals and communities around the world. Through our tech|HU program, we help develop, manage, promote, and advance technology transfer commercialization, partnership, and investment opportunities related to Howard’s portfolio of intellectual property, patents, and trademarks. tech|HU leads the University’s efforts to create, innovate, disseminate, and commercialize our intellectual assets. Our Pitch|HU incubator program also supports the greater Howard community though an entrepreneurship ecosystem that inspires knowledge, innovation & growth for founders and early-stage businesses, with a focus on creating equitable growth for diverse entrepreneurs. PitchHU “empowers thinkers to become doers”, and increases the likelihood of commercial success for technology transfer opportunities and founders / startups, through experiential entrepreneurship support. The Office of Research is at the forefront of providing support and innovation across the greater Howard community, including our preeminent cross-sector private / public sector partners, government, and NGOs. We help the University inspire generations of faculty, students, and research staff to seek solutions to the human dilemma - particularly as this concerns communities of color and historically disenfranchised communities.
