About Respiratory Society of Kenya

Respiratory Society of Kenya (ReSok) is a professional, non-profit, reference organization whose mission is to improve lung health in Kenya and beyond, through partnership, advocacy, research, innovation, education, training and technical support. A membership organization (just like the IUATLD) with leadership provided by chest medicine specialists (functions as the Kenya Thoracic Society). KAPT was formed and registered under the societies act in 1956 as the local chapter of the International Union Against Tuberculosis (IUAT/KAPT). In 1997 both IUAT and KAPT changed their names to incorporate Lung Disease (LD) and thus IUATLD/ReSok. Known internationally for its world acclaimed successful implementation of the Public-Private Mix (PPM) model for TB care and prevention that is currently being replicated by other countries. Our Vision is to be the leading reference organization providing world class lung health solutions in Kenya and beyond. Our Mission is to promote and improve lung health in Kenya and beyond through partnership, advocacy, research and innovation, education, training and technical support.
