What is RESPONDENT? Powering the Future: Smarter Forecasting for Renewable Energy Europe is rapidly shifting to clean energy, but as more solar and wind power are added to the grid, one challenge becomes critical: how do we ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply when renewable energy production is constantly changing? This is where RESPONDENT comes in. We are a Horizon Europe-funded project developing advanced forecasting tools that help grid operators, energy traders, and policymakers accurately predict renewable energy generation and electricity demand. By combining: AI-powered forecasting models that analyze weather patterns and electricity demand, Satellite data from Galileo and Copernicus to improve accuracy, and Real-time grid synchronization to ensure smooth energy distribution, RESPONDENT helps balance supply and demand, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and strengthening Europe’s energy security. Why It Matters With better predictions, energy providers can: ✅ Integrate more renewable energy without risking grid instability, ✅ Avoid power shortages and costly energy fluctuations, and ✅ Support Europe’s climate goals while keeping energy reliable and affordable. Who We Are RESPONDENT is led by FINT and managed by the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), bringing together experts in energy, AI, and space technology from 8 partner organizations across 3 countries. Our solutions are being tested through real-world pilot demonstrations, showing how smart forecasting can transform Europe’s energy system.
