reStove

reStove is a sustainable entrepreneurship initiative founded by an international team of ambitious students from TU Munich. reStove originates within Enactus, the world's largest student organisation for social entrepreneurship. Combining diverse educational and personal backgrounds, we are united in our vision to enable clean energy supply for everyone in the world - starting in rural India. Traditional cooking practices such as firewood are among the main drivers of climate change with about 2% of yearly global emissions - on par with the entire aviation industry. The associated indoor air pollution is strongly hazardous to society's health resulting in 3.2 million deaths per year and $2.4tn health-related cost according to WHO and World Bank. Still, a majority of the affected population sticks to firewood, dung cakes and crop residues as primary cooking fuels. Why? Modern alternatives such as LPG are simply not affordable for a majority of the population - while entailing significant carbon emissions.
