RETAIN Ohio Overview

RETAIN is a Stay-at-Work/Return-to-Work program that specializes in health care coordination. The need for the program has become a priority for our country as many people feel there are limited options after an acute cardiovascular event or a musculoskeletal injury that occurs outside of work. Many patients find that leaving the labor force is damaging not only to their wellbeing but to their family's livelihood as well. RETAIN is the solution. By providing support and resources at an early phase of the injury/illness, returning to work/staying at work is achievable. The RETAIN team consists of qualified staff members that are here to assist the patient, the healthcare provider, and the employer in all avenues of the return-to-work/stay-at-work process. Health Service Coordinators (HSCs) are our care coordination team members. The HSC serves in the following capacities: - Serves as liaison on behalf of the provider to ensure the injured patients get back to work as safely as possible. - Contacts the provider to determine the patient's needs and assists with their plan of care. - Assists providers with completing return-to-work documentation. - Works with the employer to identify ways to modify the job for a safer return to work. RETAIN is a government funded study from the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) in partnership with the Employment and Training Administration (ETA). Ohio RETAIN is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Social Security Administration under a grant award of $18,800,000 to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services that will be incrementally provided. 100% of grant funding is from U.S. Federal funds.
