Revai Health, Inc. is a medical device company that has developed a novel technology platform for preserving donated human organs for transplant. This technology was developed jointly by a multidisciplinary team from the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale Center for Engineering Innovation and Design. Our mission is to provide healthier organs for transplantation in order to improve transplant acceptance and patient survival rates, improve patient quality of life, and drastically reduce overall healthcare costs.
Our first prototype is the Intestinal Preservation Unit (IPU). This device focuses on preserving intestine by circulating nutrient-rich solution through the organ during transport to prevent organ trauma and the buildup of toxic metabolites. Early stage testing using both animal and human intestine has demonstrated the ability of the IPU to provide enhanced intestine preservation over the current standard of care.
Given that the mechanisms of injury are similar for many donated organs, our long-term goal is to leverage our technology to additional transplant markets.
