Rhondium was founded in 2010 by Dr Simon McDonald with the aim to make the lives of everyday dentists dramatically easier and more productive. Dr McDonald is no stranger to inventing breakthrough products – he previously founded and built Triodent, Triodent V3 Matrix System Inventora company that became well known for its multi-award-winning V3 Sectional Matrix System, used in class two composite restorations. Such was the company’s success that it was subsequently purchased by Dentsply Sirona. Based in New Zealand, Rhondium consists of a highly skilled team of specialists, all brought together by their passion to create quality, innovative and cutting-edge products for the dental industry. Dr McDonald says “It’s about doing things differently, and better. Our mission is to dramatically transform how dentists work, to create better results for both patients and dentists by making dental treatments more accessible and affordable. Through using the latest technology and applying very clever thinking, we can provide simple yet highly effective and innovative products.” The latest high-tech manufacturing methods are used such as 3D CAD design software, full five-axis, high-precision CNC milling machines and 3D printing. Rhondium’s first product, the hybrid-ceramic One Visit Crown (OVC3) is set to revolutionize dentistry. It provides a lower cost, more convenient alternative for dentists to offer patients, a durable crown that is able to be completed in only one appointment, saving them both valuable time and money. First launched in 2013, the One Visit Crown has been used by many dentists since it’s release. Rhondium is proud to be constantly innovating and perfecting the procedure through consultation with our dentist customers, and as the name implies, the OVC3 is now on the third version, which was successfully launched in August 2017.
