The Research Innovation and Scientific Entrepreneurship (RISE) Foundation IISER – set up on the IISER Kolkata campus – acts as a nodal hub to enhance entrepreneurship in the eastern and north-eastern India, thereby strengthening the economy of the region.
RISE Foundation, through the generous funding received from NIDHI-TBI scheme of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and IISER Kolkata focuses on developing state-of-the art facilities to foster entrepreneurship.
MISSION: To serve as a key entity for revenue generation for the entire region with adequate leveraging of intellectual property from IISER Kolkata and other higher educational and research institutes in Kolkata and nearby areas.
VISION: To exploit the high quality research being carried out at IISER Kolkata and nearby institutes for creating and nurturing an innovation ecosystem.
RISE Foundation also intends to provide management training, business consulting, assistance in business plan creation and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs, so as to ensure business viability and the eventual success of start-ups that the centre will help nurture.
