The vision of Rising Beyond The Ceiling is captured in its three C’s: Celebrate-Change-Create :
• Celebrate Muslim Women Achievers of India through shining a spotlight on their achievements and contributions to nation building.
• Change Stereotypes through building and putting forth Muslim women’s own narrative, doing so in an integrated way, in collaboration with all faiths.
• Create Leadership Capacities through mentorship support, and advocacy by real life role models for all young women
Rising Beyond The Ceiling (RBTC) was founded in April 2020 as a social change initiative. Born out of the need to change the stereotypical narrative about Muslim women of India, RBTC is a celebration of their achievements and contributions. The focus of RBTC is to shine a spotlight on Muslim women of India. Rising Beyond The Ceiling is the first compendium giving recognition to contemporary Muslim women of India and their inspiring achievements. Through sharing their stories of contributions to nation building and progress of the country in national, state, and global compendiums, RBTC aims to change their stereotype image and help foster a new narrative.
Rising is associated with (i) to appear above the horizon, (ii) to increase in intensity, (iii) to attain a higher level, (iv) to come into being, (v) to exert oneself to meet a challenge. The RBTC inspiring Muslim women represent ‘rising’ in their respective fields and professions. Ceiling has been used here as a limit, a real or imaginary point beyond which a person or thing cannot go - a boundary, a barrier, a termination, or a restraint. RBTC honorees have crossed the barriers and broken the socio-political and gender related restraints to achieve their dreams.
RBTC's mission is to bring inspiration to all Indian women by celebrating the achievements of Muslim women of India and changing their stereotypical narrative.
