Riya's Original

It all started in my kitchen. As a busy, full time working mum to three children I often spent hours cooking and entertaining friends and family over the weekend and holidays. As my workload got busier, the kids demands greater, I thought, there has to be a better way to cook a quick but tasty Indian inspired dish without resorting to spending valuable time over a hot stove. As I shopped I found that whilst there were many spice blends on the market, I still had to buy some additional ingredients before I could make anything. What was the point in that? I might as well do it all myself! A lightbulb moment occurred and I decided to experiment with different spices. Several trials, lots of tastings and almost two years later……the brand Riya’s Original Recipe was born, named after our daughter Riya (and the food critic in the family!) with our range of spice blends for Pakoras, and Masala mixes. Nothing to add except oil and water. Easy, quick and very tasty. Minimal preparation time and no marination. Since then we have introduced some niche products to the market. We are proud of the quality of our products. As a family owned business we are passionate about what we do and we personally try every product for taste, texture and flavour in many different ways, together with a focus group before we introduce anything to the market. You won’t eat anything that we haven’t tried ourselves. Ingredients are sourced from all over the world and each batch of ingredient is tested in a laboratory to ensure that they conform to UK standards and compliance. Our products are manufactured in BRC, SALSA and HACCP accredited sites. So you can be assured when we say we define quality …we mean it! Our spices, fresh tandoor naan breads and Lavash are all trademarked by the Vegan Society giving choice to a wider range of consumers. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
